Travelling to and within Barcelona
General Information:
Barcelona's airport, el Prat de Llobregat, is just 8 kms. (5 miles) from the city centre. You can take a taxi or the local train to come to the city centre or you can use public transport system. The piers which are close to the central districts of Barcelona allow you to come Barcelona by cruise ship.
Getting to the Apartment from the Airport:
Taxis are in abundance at the airport and the cost would typically be €18.00. However, you can also choose to take the Aerobus (right outside the airport) or "Cercanías" train. The nearest stop for both aerobus and train, is Plaza Catalunya which is situated less than 2 minutes from the apartment. The Aerobus would cost around €4.50.
Visas:
Spain is a member of the European Union so EU passport holders can come and go as they please. US, Canadian, Australian, New Zealand and Israeli citizens are among those who may enter Spain as tourists without a visa and stay up to 90 days.
Currency:
The Euro is now the official currency of Spain. The Spanish peseta is no longer in circulation.
Currency exchange:
Money can be changed in any bank, and at most travel agencies, major hotels and airports. National Girobank Postcheques may be used to withdraw cash from UK accounts at main Spanish post offices.
Credit & debit cards:
MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club and Visa are widely accepted, as well as Eurocheque cards. Check with your credit, or debit, card company for details of merchant acceptability and other facilities which may be available
